About Mist and Shadow

Mist and Shadow is a small business created to showcase how art changed my life. I have used art as a form of therapy to help me through the struggles of Stroke rehabilitation, both physical and mental.
I am now transitioning this creative art therapy into a small business to help raise awareness of unseen disabilities and mental health.
With your help, I can hopefully achieve these goals. Thank you.
About My Journey

After suffering a major Stroke in 2016, I had to give up a thirty-year career working in London and Southern Africa. 2019 saw a second Stroke, and as part of my recovery, I was introduced to art as a source of solace, self-expression and therapy.

Over the next 36 months, this became a passion that developed in line with my recovery and abilities, progressing from editing my photos on my iPhone to creating digital drawings using my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil.
In February 2022, I suffered my third major Stroke. As a result, I lost almost all the progress from my previous six years of recovery. I was in the hospital again, starting with nearly zero left-side capability.

It was then, alone and faced with returning trauma and self-grief, that I decided to face the future head-on. Through bouts of pain and depression, through good and bad days, I have created Mist and Shadow as another form of self-expression, this time to help others and myself.
